A dog named Luigi has gone viral for painting his entire fur purple when his owners forgot to close the shower doors and he got hold of a bottle of purple shampoo.

In a video shared on TikTik by its owners, who goes by the username Purpleluigithefrenchie, the dog can be seen looking all purple, while the shower is in a purple puddle, with Luigi's paws markings all over it.

The footage comes with a caption that reads: "The story of Purple Luigi... he dyed his own hair purple. Follow to know what happened."

Further in the comments the poster explained that when they found the dog purple they were freaking now and thought he was gonna die, but when they called the vet "he started laughing," adding that the dog chewed on the bottle he found in the shower, and was purple for months after the incident.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the French Bulldog is one of the top 10 breeds in the United States. The average healthy weight for a full grown French Bulldog is around 16-28 pounds, and they stand approximately 12 inches tall at the shoulder.

The average French Bulldog lifespan is 11-14 years, but life expectancy can be affected by many factors. These pups are prone to chronodysplasia, and have a lot of experience with hip dysplasia and patellar luxation, or having their kneecap slip out of place.

French Bulldogs are also a brachycephalic breed, which means they are susceptible to Brachycephalic Syndrome.

This condition affects dogs with a short head and narrow nostril combination, which can result in all that adorable snoring and grunting that Frenchies make, but, unfortunately, it can also lead to complete airway collapse.

The video, which was first shared on the social media platform last Tuesday, has gone viral, receiving over 6,453 likes, 113 comments and 1,033 re-shares.

Most users loved the video and the dog and found the incident funny. One user Jennifer, joked: "Removed brass but not sass." And Sam Mack wrote: "That white coat gonna pop once the purple fades!" Mellie added: "At least he has no gold tones!"

Slightlyinsane28 said: "Sometimes you just need a change!" And Hayley commented: "I can't imagine the shock when you first saw him purple." Leslee Millman said: "Purple suits u buddy if that's purple shampoo tho ur mom may be mad she's out."

Another user, Caz said: "Oh dear can't help but laugh though." Angie Heggie commented: "he will be stunningly light after a few washes." And Emma S added: "He will never be yellow." T-j-b5 wrote: "The little s***. laughed my head off at this... he's ace."
