A WOMAN revealed that she cleans her vegetables in the washing machine in a bizarre "life hack", but other's aren't convinced by the technique.

Ashley Echols, from Arizona, uploaded a video of herself using her unconventional method for blitzing her five-a-day.

Posting on TikTok, she showed her washing machine filled to the brim with kale before setting it to a short cycle.

She uploaded the short clip with the caption: "Wash you greens."

Many fellow TikTok users didn't appreciate the suggestion and thought it was gross to wash their food in the same machine they clean their clothes in.

One person said: "I don't want fabric softener greens."

Another said: "The laundry detergent is dressing."

A third said: "My grandma did this and we got food poisoning for weeks."

Another person said: "I assume she doesn't have a clue about how much bacteria is in the washer."

While someone else said: "It would literally be cleaner to just not wash the greens,' said someone else."

But there were others who thought the life hack was a brilliant idea.

One said: "This is how my mom did it back in the day, love it!"

Another said: "I'm not gonna lie y'all my grandma be doing this and I still be eating it."

A third said: "It really does clean your greens really well."

Ashley explained that she runs the machine with white vinegar before and after the veg cycle.

But even with this cleaning procedure, we probably still won't be trying the technique.
